JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Visitor Center Volunteer will staff the visitor center during designated hours. The volunteer and/or spouse shall provide an average of 21 hours of volunteer service per week and will serve for the entire recreation season May – October. Three different volunteer positions will share a rotating schedule of 3 days of and 6 days off. Example schedules are available from the project POC.

Volunteers selected for this position are provided a campsite in the West Overlook or Linder Point Campground with water, 50 amp electric, and sewer hookups.

 

Volunteer duties include:

1. Opening and closing of the Visitor Center.

2. Oversee the running of the theater, filling brochure racks, selling of ATB and USACE passes, answering phone/public questions, track the number of visitors with a counter, greeting visitors, assisting visitors during their visit, and leading interpretive activities. Light housekeeping (sweeping, vacuuming, restocking restroom, trash pickup if needed). If willing and able, volunteer may be asked (not required) to assist with other educational programming on/off site.

3. Staff the visitor center booth during required hours on assigned days and other days as agreed to or scheduled with the Volunteer Coordinator.

4. Operate a computer, monitor, printer, mouse, keyboard, and Recreation.gov website to perform pass sales efficiently and effectively. Perform credit card transactions for ATB and USACE passes.

5. Provide general visitor assistance. Inform visitors of campground policies and procedures, rules and regulations (Title 36 Brochure). Volunteers will NOT do any enforcement.

6. Visitor Center volunteers will not perform any campsite reservation transactions. All reservations or modification to existing reservations will be completed by the customer utilizing the website, app, or call center Recreation.gov.

7. Maintain all applicable records in accordance with project policy.

8. Notify a Park Ranger if assistance is needed.

9. Promptly report all accidents to a Park Ranger.

10. Deliver all lost and found property to a Park Ranger.
