Job Description
We are looking for friendly, customer-service focused campground hosts for Holter Dam Campground, located on the beautiful Missouri River below Holter Dam in Wolf Creek, MT, between Helena and Great Falls. Holter Dam Campground is an expanded amenity campground that includes large campsites, a boat ramp, and access to the Missouri River. The campground is open from May 1 to October 12, annually. Our busy season runs from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. The 17 overnight campsites are usually full during our busy season. The large, day use boat launch parking lot is also very popular.
What you need to know:
- We ask that you commit to being with us from the beginning of May through the end of September.
- You will work about four days per week.
- The number of hours worked daily varies, but averages about 6 hours.
- Your schedule would require that you work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- You must complete and pass a Federal Background Investigation with fingerprints.
- You would serve as a friendly, professional, reliable, fair, and knowledgeable representative of the BLM and our campground.
The BLM will reimburse each volunteer $30 for each full day duty shift worked.
Campground Host duties include:
- Ensuring that visitors are paying required fees
- Educating visitors about campground regulations
- Cleaning and stocking the bathroom
- Cleaning fire pits and conducting litter patrols
- Ensuring that the campground environment is safe and free of hazards
- Providing assistance in the security and maintenance of BLM facilities, equipment, and tools.
Volunteers must be able to perform light cleaning duties and walk about one half of a mile each day.
