JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Overview:

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking Front Desk Host Volunteers for Bardwell Lake Dam in Ennis, Texas. Bardwell Lake is a historic flood control and recreation project that provides outdoor opportunities for the surrounding community. Front Desk Host Volunteers serve as the first point of contact for visitors, offering excellent customer service, providing information, and supporting daily visitor center operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Visitor Services: Greet visitors and provide information about Bardwell Lake, recreational opportunities, park rules, and local attractions.

Front Desk Operations: Staff the front desk at the visitor center or office during scheduled hours.

Pass Sales: Sell and issue America the Beautiful – The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Passes, including collecting fees, handling electronic payments, and maintaining accurate sales records.

Information Distribution: Provide maps, brochures, and interpretive materials to visitors.

Administrative Support: Assist with light administrative duties such as answering phones, logging visitor statistics, and maintaining informational displays.

Public Relations: Promote a welcoming and professional atmosphere while addressing visitor questions or concerns.

Resource Protection: Encourage compliance with park rules and help promote stewardship of public lands.

Qualifications:

Friendly, professional demeanor with strong customer service and communication skills.

Comfortable handling money and following cash-handling procedures.

Ability to work independently and interact with a diverse group of visitors.

Basic computer skills preferred.

Experience in customer service, retail, or office settings is helpful but not required.

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and work in a public-facing environment.

Willingness to learn federal pass programs and Corps of Engineers policies.
