JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Site Host serves as the liaison between public visitors in the San Pedro House area of the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area (SPRNCA) and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and as the day-to-day grounds’ caretaker.

 

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

1. Meet, greet and inform visitors:

 

•      Answer questions visitors may ask about the site and SPRNCA generally.

 

•      Explain the regulations that apply to the SPRNCA (provided SPRNCA binder).

 

•      Hand out maps or other informational materials (SPRNCA maps, SPRNCA rules and regulations, site flyers, etc.)

 

2. Grounds and facility maintenance/operation:

 

•      Perform light maintenance work around the grounds, trails, and paths.

 

•      Litter pickup with trash pickers (provided by BLM), disposal in dumpster. NOTE: Site Host will be required to complete Blood-borne pathogen training, if picking up needles with trash pickers (Field Manager approval).

 

•      Check bathrooms daily; restock toilet paper and sweep between BLM staff visits if needed. Notify BLM staff immediately if bathrooms have human waste and large accumulations of urine on the floors or walls of the bathroom (NOTE: Site Host cannot clean human waste and urine).

 

•      Cut or remove weeds using hand tools.

 

•      Sweep concrete walks/slabs.

 

•      Trim overhanging branches along paths or trail (only within clearing limits) with hand tools (no chainsaw work)

 

•      Restock flyer or hand out dispensers.

 

•      NO WORK IS TO BE DONE ON ANY HISTORIC BUILDINGS OR STRUCTURES, INSIDE OR OUT.

 

3. Monitor recreational use and site conditions.

 

•      Be observant of public visitors and what they are doing,

 

•      Based on a reading of the situation or circumstances, offer assistance or gather information for reporting.

 

•      The site host is not a law enforcement position; do not attempt to confront, detain, discipline, or threaten any visitors in apparent violation.

 

•      The Site Host will only document and report incidents of apparent violation to appropriate BLM staff.

 

•      LAW ENFORCEMENT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF LAW ENFORCEMENT RANGERS ONLY.

 

•      Check condition of the grounds, paths and trails, and recreation facilities.

 

 

 

 

IMPORTANT NOTES:

 

Class B or Class C RV is preferred.
30-amp electric hookup from solar.
At least one-year of campground host experience is preferred.
