JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Bridger-Teton National Forest (BTNF) is part of the largest intact ecosystem in the lower 48 states. 3.48 million acres stretch from the southern border of Yellowstone National Park, covering the entire eastern flank of Grand Teton National Park, wrapping around Jackson Hole valley, to southwest-central Wyoming. The Bridger-Teton is characterized by high elevation coniferous forests, sage/grass steppes, mountain ranges and deep valleys, large expanses of wild lands and three wilderness areas, abundant wildlife, and internationally recognized scenic and natural features.
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help operate the front desk at the Bridger-Teton National Forest, Jackson Ranger Station. The volunteer may also conduct trail patrols on Bridger-Teton trail systems located close to the town of Jackson, hiking trails and educating visitors about responsible recreation practices. In helping with the Forest Service’s front desk, daily tasks include speaking with the public and answering phones, selling gift shop merchandise, forest product permits, and federal land passes, and helping with other clerical tasks that might arise. The volunteer must be a quick learner, have good people skills, be patient, and be able to communicate clearly to the public when working as the Customer Service Representative. The volunteer may also help us to staff the Interagency Visitor Center, which is a short walk from our Jackson Ranger District office location, as well as West Table Boat ramp in the Snake River Corridor near Hoback, Wyoming.

The available housing for this position would be an RV site. In exchange for housing at no cost, the volunteer must contribute a minimum of 24 hours/week. Couples are welcome to apply! Please note, this role is a part of the Ambassadors for Responsible Recreation Program that is managed jointly with Friends of the Bridger-Teton.
