JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Bridger-Teton National Forest (BTNF) is part of the largest intact ecosystem in the lower 48 states. 3.48 million acres stretch from the southern border of Yellowstone National Park, covering the entire eastern flank of Grand Teton National Park, wrapping around Jackson Hole valley, to southwest-central Wyoming. The Bridger-Teton is characterized by high elevation coniferous forests, sage/grass steppes, mountain ranges and deep valleys, large expanses of wild lands and three wilderness areas, abundant wildlife, and internationally recognized scenic and natural features.
The Landscape Care volunteer will support a variety of landscaping and general upkeep tasks across various Bridger-Teton National Forest offices, administrative sites, and housing areas. Volunteer will employ both hand tools and power equipment to complete regular tasks as directed by their supervisor while demonstrating independence and initiative in completing additional duties.
Regular landscaping and general upkeep tasks include:
Driving trucks and towing trailers
Operating gas powered and battery powered lawn equipment
Using hand tools to trim trees and shrubs
Maintaining underground sprinkler system, performing minor repairs as needed
Hand water trees and shrubs
Pull and/or cut invasive weeds
Removing trash and litter
Qualifications:
Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
Experience with landscaping tasks and equipment.
Physical ability to perform outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
Good communication skills.
Commitment:
Scheduled workdays can be coordinated with the assigned supervisor, with a minimum of 24 hours per week.
The available housing for this position would be an RV site. In exchange for housing at no cost, the volunteer must contribute a minimum of 24 hours/week. Please note, this role is a part of the Ambassadors for Responsible Recreation Program that is managed jointly with Friends of the Bridger-Teton.
