JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Santa Catalina Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest is seeking Volunteer Recreation Technicians. As a Volunteer Recreation Technician, servicing areas on Mount Lemmon and Sabino Canyon, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our forests clean, safe, and enjoyable for all. The volunteer’s primary duties are:
- Maintaining trailheads, bathrooms, campgrounds, picnic sites, and other public use areas.
- Collecting trash and picking up litter.
- Conducting safety checks and ensuring that our recreation sites meet the necessary standards.
- Driving a government vehicle to check on and maintain recreation sites.
- Engaging with visitors to provide information on recreation and conservation.
Commitment
For local volunteers that do not require a trailer pad, the minimum commitment is 8 hours per week. For volunteers that require a trailer pad, the minimum commitment is 24 hours per week. All volunteers are asked to commit a minimum of 3 months of service, with the possibility of an extension for up to 6 months.
Trailer Pad
Our Palisades trailer pads are located at 8,000 ft elevation, nestled in the pine tress on Mount Lemmon. Electric, water, and sewage hookups are provided. We can refill propane tanks. Pets are allowed. When applying please describe your camp setup if you would like to utilize our camp spots.
