JOB DESCRIPTION:

Campers Cove Park: While camping sites are Closed year-round, there are 4 day-use picnic shelters and 1 boat ramp. The boat ramp is available to both registered campers at Town Bluff Parks and day-use users.

 

Bluffview Park: With one reservable pavilion, there are 1 restroom, 7 day-use picnic shelters, , 1 non-covered picnic site, a playground, and a 1/5 mile exercise track that are all day-use. Additionally, the dam is a popular platform for fishing enthusiasts. All camping reservations and group pavilion rental are handled through Recreation.gov. Volunteers are not responsible for processing any transactions and are not allowed to make reservations and/or process payment on behalf of the customer. The boat ramps are available to both registered campers and day-use users.

 

Position Description: The Camp Host(s) will provide general information and customer service to registered campers and park customers by answering general questions about the campground, perform minor grounds keeping duties such as mowing specific sites and recreation areas as needed, clearing parks, fishing areas, and roadways of debris (leaf litter/pine straw/sticks/trash) as needed/per schedule, minor restroom cleanings (as needed), working with their fellow volunteers at the park and performing other duties as assigned. Volunteers will also support rangers by notifying of vandalism/destruction of public property. Additionally, volunteers will assist with the Water Safety Program, informing visitors about Watery Safety, maintaining life-jacket loaner boards (where available) and working with both the Volunteer Program and Water Safety Program Coordinators to perform and record water safety contacts.

 

Background Checks: All volunteers and anyone, physically living with the volunteer (18 years of age and older) must submit to a Background Check. Only individuals who can pass the Background Check will be accepted as Campground Host volunteers and/or allowed to live onsite within the campground.

 

Host Site and Schedule: Campground Host volunteers will provide 20 service hours a week (80 service hours a month) per individual in exchange for their campsite. Camp host site is a 20’x50’ covered concrete pad with full hookup and 50 Amp breaker. Campground Host Volunteers will work with Rangers to create their schedule. Volunteer service days are rendered seven days a week and on Holidays. Schedules vary from park to park. For more information on schedules, please contact the Lake POC.

 

Pet Restrictions: No more than 4 pets are allowed per camp host site. The possession of any wild, exotic or animal of a breed or temperament that may pose a threat to the health and safety of others is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, any dog with a documented history of vicious or aggressive behavior, as well as breeds commonly identified as having aggressive tendencies. Pets MUST be penned, caged, on a leash under six feet in length, or otherwise physically restrained at all times.
