Job Description
Do you like to work outdoors? The Valley County Recreation Department is seeking applicants for a Campground Coordinator and 4-5 Campground Hosts at Horsethief Reservoir and Wellington campgrounds for the summer of 2026.
Horsethief Reservoir, east of Cascade, ID is one of Idaho Fish and Game’s most productive year-round trout fisheries and offers water-based recreation throughout the warmer months. It is also close to a wide variety of outdoor recreational opportunities in the heart of Idaho’s West Central Mountains.
Wellington Campground is in Smith’s Ferry in the heart of Idaho’s whitewater country on the banks of the North Fork of the Payette River and offers great access to a variety of other recreational opportunities.
The Campground Host is the first point of contact for visitors, greeting campers with a friendly demeanor and providing essential information regarding local amenities, regulations, and site availability. To ensure a high-quality environment, the Host regularly patrols the grounds to monitor stay limits, quiet hours, and proper food storage or trash disposal.
Maintaining the beauty of the facility is a core duty; the Host performs daily cleaning and light maintenance of high-use areas, including vault toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables. Between guest arrivals, the Host ensures campsites are raked and free of litter. Additionally, this role supports administrative compliance by checking for valid parking or camping permits and monitoring “Iron Ranger” self-pay stations. The Host maintains a professional line of communication with the Campground Coordinator, Idaho Fish and Game, and local law enforcement to report infrastructure damage, supply needs, or emergency situations.
