Job Description

CAMPGROUND HOSTS

We have volunteer hosts who stay at a park in their RV’s and assist the Department in routine maintenance while being an ambassador for the Department to our patrons. These positions are generally in campgrounds or larger day use parks. Work assignments are generally for 3 to 6 months and we encourage hosts to experience many of our different parks. While we have hosts year round in our parks, there is generally a need for more hosts during the summer months when use is higher.

Douglas County Parks provides opportunities for citizens to volunteer host at our beautiful
campgrounds. Our park hosts are quite literally some of the most visible faces of our
organization, helping visitors feel welcome, answering their questions and familiarizing
them to the park and surrounding area.

Benefits of hosting:
• Campsite in a beautiful setting
• Free full hook-ups
• Paid utilities and garbage services
• Laundry facilities
• Orientation and training to perform your job well
• Volunteer uniform identifying you as part of the team
• A chance to learn new skills and challenge yourself
• Appreciation events and recognition items
• An opportunity to become a vital part of our Douglas County Parks family!

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of all hosts in all parks is to be courteous and responsive to the
needs of the park visitors. This function, in many parks requires a considerable amount of
your time and understanding. The Host is the Department’s front line public relations
person. In many cases, for visitors traveling through the area, you are the only contact that
person will have within the Department or Douglas County in general.

Daily responsibilities can vary, and may include some of the following: cleaning of
restrooms and/or showers, checking restroom supplies, filling out camping usage reports,
providing assistance to campers, pointing out park rules and policies to help everyone have
a pleasant stay or visit.

In addition, our Volunteer Hosts keep our parks clean and inviting by picking up litter and
taking note of anything needing repaired, as well as checking for safety hazards. They also
maintain all barbeques and fire rings.
