Job Description
Volunteers at Zion’s Pedestrian Entrance provide a valuable point of contact for visitors walking into the park from the town of Springdale. Volunteers are official representatives of the National Park Service and are required to wear the NPS park volunteer uniform while on duty.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Checking visitor passes and giving directions at park’s Pedestrian Entrance. Volunteer will not handle any money.
- Providing a variety of visitor information on hiking trails, the shuttle system, ranger programs, wilderness permits, and/or other activities within the park.
Volunteer couple must:
- Provide good communication and customer service to domestic and international visitors of all backgrounds and abilities
- Stand outside for three hours at a time in a variety of weather conditions
- Work independently
- Wear a mask while interacting with the public and other staff members
Desired experience includes:
- Previous experience working with visitors/customers
- Ability to learn about the park quickly.
Note: While it is possible to volunteer as an individual for this position, we’ve found having another person to split the 6-hour shift is ideal.

Volunteer couple will work five days/week; one volunteer will work from 9 am until noon, and the second volunteer will work from noon to 3 pm. Volunteers will be standing outside in a variety of weather conditions.
Park will provide volunteers with a level RV spot with electrical hook-up (50 amp). There is a dump station at the campground to fill with water and dump gray/black water. Duty station is a short walk from volunteer’s RV.
