Join the Petrified Forest Team!

Petrified Forest National Park is seeking volunteers ! Volunteers greet visitors, answer questions and provide orientation to the park and area. If interested volunteer may present interpretive programs. In addition the volunteer would assist with the history association bookstore sales. Training will be provided with an orientation to the park. This position may require long periods of standing as well as some walking/hiking and raising and lowering the flag. A minimum of 32 hours per week is required ( RV couples can split the hours). Most shifts are 8 hours long. A minimum of 3 months is required but 6 months is prefered. Due to the remoteness, reliable personal transportation and a valid drivers license are also required. Please include whether or not you have a federal background check in place and three references (with phone numbers) in section 19 of the application. References should be unrelated to you and able to speak about your ability and/or aptitude for the position.

Also, couples must complete applications for EACH person.  The nearest grocery stores and medical care are located in Gallup NM, 75 miles to the east of the north entrance and Holbrook AZ, located 21 miles to the west of the north entrance. Large hospitals are located in Show Low and Flagstaff with helicopter service available for emergencies.
