Have a passion for the outdoors? Enjoy working independently yet in a team environment? Come join our dedicated team of Roving Caretakers and give back to public lands while patrolling recreation sites, performing light maintenance and sharing information with Forest Visitors!
DUTIES
In this position, you will Patrol the White Mountain National Forest in a government vehicle starting and ending your day from your White Mountain National Forest Campsite . Your duties include driving a patrol route through the forest stopping to clean and maintain Recreation Sites as you go. In exchange for 3 eight hour days of volunteer work each week, we offer a complimentary full hookup RV campsite at beautiful Russell Pond Campground.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a valid drivers license and high level of comfort driving in and out of busy recreation sites. Applicants should be comfortable with lifting up to 25 pound garbage bags, cleaning toilets, and picking up litter using a mechanical “picker”. Additionally, impromptu public contacts and sharing information are an additional duty as the public will view you as a Ranger and person of authority and knowledge. Applicants must be willing to commit from May 2021 to October 18 2021.
