Maintenance
Job Description
A camp host is a person or couple who volunteers their time at a state park or historic site for two months or more in exchange for a camping spot during their volunteer service. The difference between a site host and a camp host is that a camp host is responsible for campgrounds or designated areas, whereas a site host holds a position where there are no campgrounds or overnight camping.
CAMP HOST BENEFITS
- Worker’s Compensation coverage;
- Free camp site with water and electrical hookups (some FHU, full hook up, sites);
- Meet new people;
- Learn new skills;
- Experience new places;
- Have fun while giving back!
We ask our hosts for a minimum of a two month commitment. Our season is from May 15th – September 15th. Some sites have availability in April and into October, but that is not our system standard. Hosts typically work 3-4 days per week, to include weekends and holidays, as those are our busiest times. In general, our hosts serve 20 hours per week, per person, depending on location. There are a few sites in our system that request 24 hours per week, per person.
Camp Host Information
- Camp Host Information Sheets provide information on each location’s needs.
- Work schedules vary by location, and are determined by the Park/Historic Site Superintendent or volunteer coordinator on-site.
- Couples will have days off together.
- All volunteers sign a Volunteer Agreement, once per calendar year, which must be on file prior to beginning their positions.
- Volunteers may drive state vehicles, but must provide a valid Driver’s License and insurance information, and pass the State of Wyoming Defensive Driving Test.
