The Details:

Position starts in April and extends through late September / early October (dates depend on Location).

  • Start Date: April 2021
  • Employment Type: Full Time, Seasonal (ideally full season or early/late season)
  • Schedule: Varies – 32 to 45 hours per week.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of the Employee Housing Host:

The Employee Housing Host is responsible for ensuring housing residents (Glacier employees) are knowledgeable of rules and regulations and to assist with check-in and check-out process of employees.  Assigning associates to cabin or rv sites. The Host will provide professional and courteous service to employees in a method that ensures exceptional customer service.  The Host is responsible for ensuring all restroom facilities and common areas exceed the high standards for cleanliness at all times.  This position is responsible for communicating all issues through the appropriate channels and to ensure successful resolution occurs in a timely manner.

Establish and maintain positive working relationship with employees and department representatives as needed.

  • Provide professional and courteous service to all employees living in company housing.
  • Responsible for cleaning shared employee space, including employee showers, bathrooms and common areas, with periodic cleanings throughout the day to maintain cleanliness standards.
  • Daily inspections of restrooms for cleanliness, maintenance issues and proper stocking of necessary toiletries. High level awareness of needed supplies and maintenance problems.
  • General landscaping duties including raking, watering and pruning.
  • Report maintenance problems by completing a work order and submitting to the Engineering Department.
  • Assist residents with checking in and checking out in a timely manner.
  • Monitor for appropriate use of the facilities by employees (ie.  proper food storage, pets aren’t left unattended or left off-leash, keeping quiet hours, parking at designated sites, etc.) and follow up with employees to ensure compliance of all housing rules.
  • Report deficiencies, hazardous or unsafe conditions immediately to the appropriate department.
  • Maximize use of the housing sites as to the appropriate sized vehicle for specific sites.
  • Liaise with Human Resources regarding employee issues.
  • Empty garbage, ashtrays, and recycling from shared areas and transport to disposal area.
  • Monitor recyclable containers, common area and food lockers for proper use and capacity.
  • May contact security or appropriate personnel to address rule & regulation violations.
  • Responsible for adhering to Xanterra’s Ecologix Program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

  • This position reports to the Director of Human Resources, Glacier National Park Lodges.
  • Previous experience of employee housing operations required.
  • High level of interpersonal communication skills, self-motivation; ability to work independently and problem solve.
  • Dependability – follow directions, responds to management direction.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Knowledge of general work safety practices.
  • Safety and Security – observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals.
  • Possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License, and comply with the Xanterra Driver Safety Program and Policy.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to walk long distances over uneven terrain and climb stairs in all types of weather conditions.
  • Must be capable of lifting objects, and push and pull items weighing up to 70 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, crawling for extended periods of time are required.
  • Repetitive motion of arms, wrist and hands while cleaning.
  • Required to drive a company vehicle; a driving record check will be completed as part of the standard pre-employment background check.
