Winthrop National Fish Hatchery – Hatchery Host(s) – RV hosts to provide visitor services and tours at a National Fish Hatchery.

 

Serve as hatchery host(s) at a National Fish Hatchery. Primary duties involve visitor services, short tours, etc. The tour information can be easily learned from the staff prior to providing tours to visitors. Other duties include cleaning public restrooms, landscaping (mowing, weed-eating, etc.), and other grounds maintenance as needed.

An RV pad with full hook-ups is available for the hatchery hosts.

Covid 19 protocols (proper PPE, social distancing, etc.) must be followed per station safety guidelines.

 

DUTIES

Primary duties are to provide visitor services (information and tours)

Other duties include cleaning public restrooms, landscaping (mowing, weed-eating, etc.), and other grounds maintenance as needed.

Fish care (feeding, cleaning, etc.) may be helpful during certain times as needed.

Covid 19 protocols (proper PPE, social distancing, etc.) must be followed per station safety guidelines.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Must enjoy working and talking with the public.

Verbal communication skills are important.

Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

Maintenance skills are helpful but not absolutely required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Outdoors – weather can range from cold rain to extreme heat.

Wildfire season can be extremely smokey, but air quality is highly variable from year to year.
