Rock Springs Run Reserve State Preserve Volunteer Position
Title: Tractor Operator for Fire Lines
Supervisor: Volunteer Coordinator or On-Duty Ranger
Description: We need an experienced tractor operator to maintain fire lines on a regular schedule. This listing is for 5 days a week but the schedule is a flexible 30 hour a week opening. This park resident host site is located very near the shop for an easy start to your day with no commute time. This park resident host site has water, sewer, and 50 amp service.
Benefits to Volunteer: Volunteer provided with a T-shirt and a nametag; resident host site if desired; Upon completion of 50 hours, volunteer will receive an annual family pass for volunteer and family at the park where the hours were worked; Upon completion of 250 hours, volunteer will receive a special volunteer annual pass for all Florida State Parks (request all passes from the Volunteer Coordinator); Inclusion in all park staff gatherings (pot lucks, celebrations, holiday parties, etc.); Invitation to district Volunteer Appreciation gatherings
Position Goal/Outcome Desired: To become familiar with the daily operations and maintenance of the park; Gain a better understanding and appreciation of what the park- and the Florida Park Service as a whole- has to offer; Gain a sense of fulfillment from the volunteer experience; Gain a sense of appreciation for the hours contributed supporting the Florida Park Service’s Mission Statement “To provide resource-based recreation while preserving, interpreting, and restoring natural and cultural resources.”
