Volunteer Activities• Visitor Information Photo Courtesy of NPS DescriptionLocation Description This 71,000-acre park features sand dunes, beech/maple and pine/oak forests, rivers, inland lakes, miles of Lake Michigan beach, two offshore islands, historic farming district, a lighthouse, two campgrounds and 105 miles of hiking trails. Position Description: Volunteer Interpreters serve in the historic town of Glen Haven; staffing a Life-Saving Station maritime museum, Cannery boat museum and a working Blacksmith Shop (optional). They will also serve at the Visitor Center in Empire to provide visitors with information and orientation, guide bus tours and assist in other duties as assigned.   Opportunity Timeframe: May through October, volunteers may choose a 60-90 day time-frame in which to work in this opportunity.  Benifits: Free campsites available for a minimum of 32 hours of work/week — Campsites have water/electric hook-ups only, (no sewer and electric may operate at reduced amperage [<30amps] on some sites), dump station and blue-boy are available.
