Volunteer Activities• Campground Host Photo Courtesy of FS DescriptionInterested in spending some time in the Blue Ridge Mountains?  Come volunteer at North Creek Campground nestled on North Creek in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Central Virginia.  Trout fishing just steps away.  Hiking to Apple Orchard Falls less than 2 miles away.  The Glenwood and Pedlar Ranger Districts are looking for campground hosts for North Creek Campground beginning April 1st through November 30th. North Creek Campground is a small 16-site campground nestled at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and welcomes campers who wish to enjoy the rustic beauty and peacefulness of the area.  Located along the edge of North Creek, the campground offers shady campsites, several of which are “creek side.”  Prop your feet up and listen to the stream gurgle past or take advantage of the fishing at your door. Campground host duties include:  provide information to visitors, answer questions, prepare campsites for the next visitors (trash pickup, clean fire rings, rake site), clean 2 double vault toilets (sweep and sanitize, restock toilet paper), and mow / trim less than 1 acre of grass. Volunteers are an important asset who help make the campground special to many of the visitors.  For scheduling purposes, we ask for at least a one month commitment (in at first of the month and out at end of the month).  In exchange for a free campsite and utilities, we ask our volunteers to help out at least 4 hours per day, 5 days per week, per person.  Because weekends are the busiest time, “days off” will be scheduled for the less busy weekdays.  HOUSING & AMENITIESType: Camp SitesDescription: In exchange for your valuable volunteer service, we will provide you with a campsite with full hook-ups (water, electric, telephone and waste water holding tank).
