RV SITE: SITE DETAILS: Trailer/RV PadsDescription: RV pads are available to Information Desk volunteers. The RV pads are gravel, have sewer hook ups (equipment not provided), and have 30A 125 VAC and a 15/20A VAC outlet on each pad. Washer & dryers are available to use at the dorms. The RV site accommodates:If a motor home (single unit)-34 ft. for sure, 38 ft. if you can maneuver in tight spaces. Fifth Wheel or travel trailer up to 37 ft. Pictures of the RV pads are available upon request.**Cell phone coverage is spotty to non-existent.**

This position will be at the Little Sand Bay Information Desk. Volunteers will meet a variety of people and personalities. Volunteers will be the main contact for visitors going out to Little Sand Bay. In 2020, the volunteers will be working out of a newly built visitor center. Duties Providing park program, orientation, trip planning, and safety information Giving narrative talks and/or tours of the Hokenson Family Fishery and the Twilite fishing boat Issuing dive permits as needed Opening & closing the station Maintaining visitation records Notify supervisor when hazardous conditions exist Providing basic custodial duties, such as cleaning toilets, sinks, and floors Assisting with gardening at islands locations, as needed Monitor visitor activities for infractions of lakeshore regulations Administer emergency first aid when needed Explain recreation use fees Receive and log lost & found items Assisting with Search & Rescues as needed Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to be self-sufficient is a must Ability to present narrative talks while providing tours Knowledge of camping Skill in oral communication to provide visitors with lake conditions and park information Ability to maintain a positive attitude and consistently be courteous to visitors Ability to learn quickly and retain basic knowledge Ability to effectively deal with stressful situations Ability to know how to use a radio Physical Demands Requires standing and/or sitting for long periods of time Requires hiking strenuous trails and/or stairs Work Environment Work is performed indoors and outdoors. The weather conditions can vary from hot days to cool nights, thunderstorms, high winds, and rain. The environments may include high humidity and hot temperatures. Cell phone coverage is spotty to non-existent. Work Schedule Information desk volunteers typically start around late May until after Labor Day. Regular scheduled hours are 8:45 am – 5:15 pm but can vary if there are any emergencies or other issues. Background checks including fingerprinting will be done if a volunteer is selected. Volunteering for the full season is preferred. Uniforms While on duty, volunteers will be required to wear a uniform. A NPS volunteer shirt, sweater, wind breaker, name tag, and ball cap will be provided. The volunteer will provide their own pants and shoes/boots. The volunteer must be professional looking.
