DESCRIPTION:
- Provide excellent customer service. Provide information and assistance to the public.
- Lock/unlock access gates as needed
- Assist campers with check in/out procedure
- Ability to work well with park staff
- Educate visitors on park rules. Hosts are not required to take on law enforcement issues; however, they do serve as the eyes and ears in the campgrounds and assistance in reporting any problems or situations to park staff.
- Communicate any issues with park staff
- Ensure fee compliance. Campground Hosts do not collect fees.
- Report any disturbances, criminal actions, property damage, personal accidents, fatalities or injuries, and fires to the BLM supervisor and law enforcement for proper action. Phone numbers will be provided.
- Monitor all cabins within cabin camp
- Assist park staff with light maintenance such as painting, trash pickup, light landscaping, sweep and clean cabins.
- Wear an NPS volunteer uniform when on duty, consisting of hat, volunteer shirt and name tag.
- Attend scheduled volunteer and/or staff meetings.
- Document all volunteer hours spent working as the host. Turn them in monthly to the parks Volunteer Coordinator.
- Become familiar with the parks rules and policies
HOURS PER WEEK
A minimum of 32 hours per week is required and weekend work is expected. Hours of work are negotiable and holiday work is expected. The host will inform their supervisor if they will be away from the cabin camp or if they need to take time off during their regular schedule. The hours are flexible.
- Friendly and courteous to staff and park visitors and the ability to communicate clearly with them
- Assist and educate visitors on park regulations and safety guidelines

Prince William Forest Park is a 15,000+ acre park preserving a variety of natural and cultural history within 32 miles of Washington, D.C. The park has 37 miles of hiking trails, over 21 miles of bicycle accessible roads and trails, numerous campgrounds and numerous cultural opportunities varying from CCC cabins to the OSS.
