Volunteer Activities• Campground Host • Trail/Campground Maintenance Photo Courtesy of FS DescriptionThe Palomar Ranger District on the Cleveland National Forest is seeking for a Trailhead Camp Host volunteer for the San Diego River Gorge Trailhead. The San Diego River Gorge Trailhead provides access to the San Diego River Gorge Area and includes Cedar Creek Falls, which is popular local destination. This is opportunity is ideal for a retired couple with a motorhome, RV, or Travel Trialer who enjoy the great outdoors, hiking, and working with the public. Trailhead Camp Host have extensive public contact with forest visitors, educating them on the geography of the area as well as rules and regutations, including requirements for a permit to visit Cedar Creek Falls. Camp Host also assisting in verifling that all forest visitors hiking to Cedar Creek Falls have a permit.for there visit. Have the ability to work independently, have good communication skills, ability to relate to children and adults of diverse background. Assist forest service personnel on hikers who may be suffering from the effects of the trail or heat. Trailhead Camp Host must also have the ability to hike 3 – 5 miles on a moderate trail 1 – 2 days out of the week. As a Trailhead volunteer Camp Host, your duties will also include: Cleaning CXT vault toilets located at the trailhead Collecting trash within parking area, trailhead, and picnic area Invasive plant removal within trailhead area and along the trail Assisting staff inemptying of trash cans located in the trailhead area Report compliance and maintenance issues to forest service personnel Notily forest service personnel or Law Enforcement if any illegal activity is observed, gather information on forest visitors use and keep forest service personnel informed Trailhead Camp Host Volunteer serve an average of 30 – 36 hours a week Services to be provided by forest service: RV and Trailer parking pad, no longer then 35ft Electrical hookup, water hookup, and septic hoopup with service Trailhead Camp Host Volunteer General Rules and Regulations: Keep your host site clean and approachable for the public Dogs must be kept on a leash or a dog pin All forest service rules and regulations and district policies are applicable to your position as a trailhead camp host All local, state, and federal laws apply to your camp host site location HOUSING & AMENITIESType: Trailer/RV Pads
