Job Description

Discover Lake Heron Retreat, a small Christian campground. Enjoy beautiful scenery, abundant wildlife, and great fishing and boating on a quiet 10 acre lake.

Lake Heron Retreat is seeking a friendly, reliable couple to help maintain our small campground and welcome guests. We are a private Christian campground located on a 10 acre lake in PA. We will consider commitments for the full 6-month season, or for 3 months. We seek volunteer single/couple to be campground hosts, ***providing your own on-site RV/camper***.

Compensation – FHU RV campsite. Wooded site, water, sewer, 30 & 50 amp electric (up to $150/mo electric use waived), trash, (no cable or wi-fi),

Responsibilities

Job Duties include cleaning bathrooms, privies, cabins, grounds keeping, enforcing rules, bundling firewood, filling firewood boxes, and reading electric & water meters. More details below.

  • Adhere to Lake Heron Conservancy mission and Christian standards and represent the nonprofit in your actions and through spoken and written words.
  • Inspect and clean campsites after guest departure (tidy/inspect cabins, picnic tables, fire rings, remove litter, etc.)
  • Guest check-in at their campsites
  • Enforce campground rules, as needed
  • Clean bathrooms and privies, restock toilet paper, soap, etc.
  • Clean and store boats after guest departure
  • Note needed repairs/maintenance during other activities
  • Help campers if they have a problem
  • Trail maintenance
  • Plan and implement seasonal volunteer work days
  • Cooperate/coordinate with other campground hosts
  • If skills and/or physical ability allow: a) Mowing, b) minor repairs (plumbing, carpentry, painting), c) operate wood splitter, d) bundle firewood, e) distribute firewood bundles to storage lockers at each camping area

 

Schedule

Work schedule is approximately 3-4 hours per day, 4-5 days per week, primarily Thursday-Sunday with weekends and holidays being a requirement.

Volunteer position is seasonal, late-April through the end of October. Three-month options run approximately Apr 26 to Jul 31, and Jul 26 to Nov 3, which provides overlap for training/orientation.

The campground is busiest on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Anticipated on-site weekly schedule totals about 15-20 hours:

  • Friday – available ~10a – 7p (prep all sites for Fri 2p arrivals, and greet guests)
  • Saturday – 2 hrs, flexible time
  • Sunday – 2 hrs, ~1p – 3:30p (prep all sites after 1p checkouts)
  • Tuesday to Thursday – 2-6 hrs total, flexible time
