Campground Host Opportunity!
The Cottage Grove Ranger District is seeking volunteers to serve as Campground Host(s) stationed at a host site within Rujada Campground. The host will serve Rujada Campground on Layng Creek and Cedar Creek and Lund Park Campgrounds along Brice Creek. Your presence as a Host will help improve the recreation experience of forest visitors and help reduce vandalism and litter. A weekly stipend is available to offset costs for personal supplies and mileage reimbursement for travel to Brice Creek.
DUTIES
Provide customer service by greeting and interacting with visitors
Assist in posting campsite reservations and prevent and resolve reservation conflicts
Provide forest information to visitors
Assist with light maintenance and repair of facilities and trash cleanup
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should have strong customer service skills, a high level of oral communication ability and be comfortable camping in a remote area.
Applicants are required to furnish a travel trailer or motorhome not more than 5 years old and in good visual condition.
A background investigation will be completed prior to arrival.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The campgrounds are approximately 25 miles east of Cottage Grove, Oregon. The Rujada Camp host site has electrical and potable water/sewage hookups and landline phone.
Rujada Campground has 15 camp units and an adjacent day use picnic area. Cedar Creek Campground has 10 camp units a vault toilet, no water and is adjacent to the Brice Creek trailhead. Lund Park has 10 sites, 2 vault toilets and offers trail access to the Brice Creek Trail. All campgrounds are under a cleaning and garbage removal contract for the restrooms. Typical campground amenities at both campgrounds include: campsites with tent pads and a parking spur, table and fire ring. Wastewater receptacles, vault or flush toilets, and garbage service. Primary recreation activities include hiking, fishing, unsupervised swimming in the clear, cool pools of Layng and Brice Creeks.
