Job Description
The Campground Host program is a group of volunteers, over the age of 18, who are willing to be ambassadors of the state park system for others. The host program generally operates from April through September every year. The hosts have the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors while helping others enjoy their own camping experiences.
An overview of Campground Host responsibilities include:
- Greet campers, answer their questions and orient them to park and region
- Assist in campground registrations and reservations
- Be accessible to campers for comments and complaints
- Understand and explain park rules and regulations to campers
- Help maintain campground and park area through activities such as picking up litter, clean up camp sites after guests check out, raking, mowing, replenish restroom supplies and assist in keeping the bathhouses clean
- Contact park staff and other law enforcement personnel about emergencies
- Other projects and assignments based on park needs and hosts’ skills and interests
To become a Campground Host you:
- Must be age 18 or older
- Must be willing to devote a minimum of two weeks to their selected campground
- Must be on duty a minimum of 4 hours a day, but are on call in case of emergencies
- Weekends and holidays are included in time served
Criteria for selecting Campground Hosts includes:
- Hosts are selected on a first-come, first-served basis; they must provide their own RV or camping equipment.
- Hosts are selected by area park superintendent.
- Successful applicants are require to sign an agreement with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
