Volunteer Activities• Campground Host • Conservation Education • Trail/Campground Maintenance • Visitor Information • General Assistance DescriptionHost person or couple at Valley of Fires Recreation Area. Maintain campground area, mowing/weedeating, clean vault toilets and showers, empty trash and general clean up at the full hook-up sites and primitive sites. Operate UTV for admin use. Interact with visitors, provide assistance and information on the lava trail and amenities. Interact and work as a team with BLM recreation planner and Visitor Center/Bookstore personnel.  Campground main uses are for travelers interested in the nearby lava flow, or visiting local features such as White Sands Missile Range or the nearby mountains, and historic Fort Stanton and Lincoln, NM (Billy the Kid area). Listing this opportunity to be for Fall 2019 through Spring of 2020; could potentially be extended if host desires and performance is acceptable. Normal work schedule is 5 days a week but can be flexible based on host needs or during times of peak visitation or local events. Host site includes water and propane hook-ups (no charge for the rv/camper spot or utilities.  Showers and bathrooms available on site. New BLM policices require a background check/fingerprinting.  If applicant already has this, that is a plus, but if a candidate is selected it could be completed prior to starting official duties.
