Volunteer Activities• Campground Host • Trail/Campground Maintenance • Visitor Information • General Assistance Photo Courtesy of BLM DescriptionGreat Volunteer Opportunity: Clark’s Bay Day Use Recreation Area is located about 15 miles east of Helena, Montana, on Hauser Lake. It’s right before Devil’s Elbow BLM-Campground. This is a popular sun bathing swimming beach, and group picnicing spot. There is also a sandy beach volleyball court, and a small craft boat launch. This is strictly a Day Use Site. There is no overnight camping provided for the public. You will be the only one camping here during your tenure, as our resident BLM-Host. Bring your RV, and enjoy the quiet evenings alone, because the day time activities will usually keep you very busy. You Will Be Managing: The five, group picnic shelters are always booked throughout the summer. Family reunions and weddings are common. The large sandy beach, and volleyball court fill-up fast on hot summer days. We need you to make sure the $5 parking fee is paid. However, You will not collect any money from the public. Some people need to be politely reminded to keep their dogs off the beach, and on their leash. You will also be answering lots common questions, and providing answers about regulations. Your assistance with public safety, and assurance for the security of our equipment and facilities is essential. You Will Be Cleaning: The four concrete style vault toilets need to be frequently cleaned and re-stocked with toilet paper. We have all the supplies. Garbage will need to be picked-up. You Will Be Assisting with Grounds Maintenance: Watering grass, moving hoses, and weeding is also appreciated. Keeping the sandy beach pristine is done with a small motorized vehicle, equipped with a pull behind harrow for you to drive. The main grounds are not extremely large; less than 5 acres. You may also be asked to assist with helping the staff at Devil’s Elbow Campground. You must open the main gate every morning at 9am. You must close the main gate every evening at 9pm. You will, most likely, have to politely encourage visitors to leave. This Volunteer opportunity is currently open for Camp Host positions. This advertisement may be used to fill more than one BLM-Host position on multiple, or different, BLM Hauser Lake Sites though-out the summer season of 2018. You are encouraged to apply! There is a $15 daily meal reimbursement! This meal reimbursement is included with each Volunteer Position. You must keep a daily log of your work completed hours. Tour of duty typically runs from mid May to mid September. There is a mandatory, Background Investigation requirement.
