DESCRIPTION:

Seeking to fill 2 Grounds Maintenance/Park Host positions.

 

Levey Park is located on the north bank of Lake Sacajawea near Snake River Mile 13. Levey Park is only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays during the recreation season. The park gate will be locked at all times besides the days listed. You will be wearing two hats as a Grounds Maintenance/Park Host volunteer, which are:

  • #1: Grounds Maintenance: This includes mowing, weed eating/trimming, picking up wood debris, and informing Park Rangers or Maintenance staff of any issues.
  • #2: Park Host: This includes opening/closing park gates, monitoring the boat parking lot/directing boaters where to park if lot is full, and occasionally making contact with visitors to remind them of certain rules.

 

DUTIES

* All safety equipment and training will be provided for any tasks. Duties include but not limited to the following:

  • Mowing
  • Weed eating/trimming
  • Painting
  • Tree pruning
  • Open/Closing park gates
  • Irrigating
  • Informing Park Rangers or Maintenance staff of any issues
  • Informing park visitors of rules

 

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Desire to work 32 hours per week and live in a natural outdoor setting, with your own RV
  • Desire to meet and interact with people from varied backgrounds
  • Appearance should be neat and reflect positively on the Corps.
  • Physical ability to lift 30 pounds and carry for approximately 25 feet.
  • Able to spot safety hazards and take prompt appropriate action to correct in accordance with training provided.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • This position mostly takes place outdoors and may require extended periods during adverse conditions such as heat, cold, and rain. Volunteers are expected to have the ability to work independently but generally work with other volunteers and USACE staff.
