Volunteer Activities• Campground Host • Trail/Campground Maintenance Photo Courtesy of BLM DescriptionHost will represent the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in public contact providing information and directions and providing a presence in the campground. Duties also include campground cleanup, picking up litter, cleaning fire rings and picnic tables. Host will report any vandalism or other incidents to BLM personnel. Restrooms will be thoroughly cleaned by the BLM staff, but incidental cleaning and restocking of paper goods may be needed. Host will collect campground visitor use data. Once known as Dike Lake, the Blackfoot Reservoir Campground is located approximately 15 miles north of Soda Springs, Idaho on Highway 34 and is a fee site. The Campground resides on the southwest the reservoir and offers boat ramps, water and electricity hookups, dumping station, and restrooms for campers, boaters and fishermen alike. There are 16 campsites each with a picnic table and fire ring. Five sites offer a Ramada. Other facilities include a day use area with Ramada and picnic tables. There is also a dispersed camping area that accommodates up to 20 sites. Activities include camping, non-motorized and motorized boating, picnicking, fishing, and wildlife viewing. Closest community is in Soda Springs, Idaho. The PFO will provide a free campsite with shelter, water, sewer and electrical hookup, stipend of $20.00 a day for incidentals, and propane. Volunteer schedule: Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend. Hosts are on-site Thursdays through Sundays with Mondays through Wednesdays off. Hosts must provide their own self-contained onsite lodging (RV). Host campsite must be kept neat, clean, and welcoming to the public. Work outdoors independently and in changing weather (rain, cold, sun, heat). Must wear provided volunteer uniform/vest while on duty and maintain a neat and professional appearance. Host will also need to pass a background investigation to volunteer for the federal government at a developed recreation site. Pets and extended family/friends must have prior approval.
