RV SITE: SITE DETAILS: OtherDescription: All housing options are shared accommodations and are in either thedesignated VIP house or in Seasonal Apartments. The VIP House is a shared three-bedroom house with two single occupancy rooms, and one double occupancy room. It also has a shared kitchen, dining and living room area, one and one-halfbathroom, a television, DVD player, washerand dryer.The seasonal apartments are grouped as quadruplex units. Each double occupancy apartment has one shared bedroom with two twinbeds, a shared kitchen, living room with dining table and chairs, and shared laundry facilities in each quadruplex unit.

Volunteer Activities• Research Library • Office/Clerical • Soil/Watershed • Tour Guide/Interpretation • Visitor Information • Science • General Assistance DescriptionMain Job Tasks and Responsibilities Assist or lead (after training) guided hikes Assist or lead (after training) children programs Prepare and give short porch talk on topic of choice (approved by supervisor) Assist with campfire preparation and extinguishing of fire Assist with crowd control as ranger presents evening programs Count evening program participants Lock and unlock gates for hikes Assist with set up and clean up of evening programs Assist with special events Other duties as needed Examples of Job Competencies Knowledge of Pikes Peak area and United States history Skilled in traditional cooking and crafts Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing Ability to facilitate discussions of sensitive topics Good organizational and time-keeping skills Successful candidate will: Be at least 16 years of age Have education or experience in history, agriculture, education, or other related field Ideal candidates will also demonstrate: Experience as an interpreter at a historic site or nature center Public speaking experience with large and small groups Experience with traditional arts, crafts, and culture Experience working with children Additional Information This position requires interpersonal and collaborative skills, a high level of flexibility, diplomacy, and willingness to learn.   Requested Volunteer Hour Contribution Minimum of 4 hours per week required Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions Hiking on moderate to strenuously difficult terrain outside in a variety of weather conditions Standing for Prolonged Periods Uniform Requirement   The incumbent will be provided with an NPS Volunteer shirt and hat, which will need to be paired with dress pants or khakis.  Footwear should have good tread for hiking. Housing  Housing cannot be guaranteed, as space is limited.
