Campground Host at Hole-in-the-Wall Campground, Mojave National Preserve

Hole-in-the-Wall Campground is located at 4,400 feet in Mojave National Preserve. It has 35 campsites, 2 walk-in sites, and 2 reservation group sites. All have a fire rings and picnic table. There are hiking trails and geologic features to explore that give the campground its name. Needles CA at 65 miles is the closest town with amenities (grocery store, gas, medical facilities, etc.).
The volunteer campground host for Hole-in-the-Wall Campground will reside in an host campsite – which includes water and sewage hookups.
· Preferred dates: March-May, Sept-Dec
· Accommodations: RV parking, water, septic, propane reimbursement ($100 per month).
· A daily stipend is also provided. (No Electricity)
· Vehicle required for transportation into town.
· Camp host will be provided a radio for communication within the park
DUTIES
· Welcome the public to Mojave National Preserve
· Assist park visitors with campground vacancies, fees, and registration information
· Perform campground compliance checks while educating visitors about campground regulations and work with park rangers to resolve minor problems
· Empty garbage cans, clean restrooms and help provide routine maintenance to keep campgrounds clean, organized, and presentable.
· Answer questions and provide orientation to Mojave National Preserve; informing visitors about safety and resource protection concerns in the campground, park overlooks, and park trails
· Rove the nearby trails, interacting with visitors, noting and reporting resource damage, and walking on uneven terrain in a variety of temperatures
· Perform all duties in a safe, professional, and respectful manner
· Other duties as assigned.
