DESCRIPTION:
Campground/Picnic Area Host positions on the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area outside of Las Vegas, NV.
We have multiple positions available for Campground Hosts on the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area.
The sites available are:
Kyle Canyon Picnic Area – Day use and overnight use 25 site Area that sees high weeklong visitation. Open year round, overnight use May – November. Host site includes full water, power, and sewer hook-ups. Cell phone service is available.
Hilltop Campground – Overnight 35 site Campground that was recently rebuilt. Sees high weeklong visitation. Open May – November. Host site includes power and sewer hook-ups. Cell phone service is spotty.
Old Mill Picnic Area – Day use and overnight use 75 site Area that sees high weekend visitation. Open May – November. Host site includes water and sewer hook-ups, with little power from solar. No cell phone service available.
Hosts will be provided with a campsite, any needed cleaning supplies, a side-by-side vehicle for transport thru the sites and Volunteer uniforms.
DUTIES
These positions are will serve as Campground/Picnic Area Hosts on the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area outside of Las Vegas, NV. Hosts will be asked to work a 5-day a week work week with days off being during the week and working on weekends. Hosts are asked to be a host to visitors to help explain rules/regulations, explain fee system, answer questions, manage reservations and do minor site upkeep.
The hosts will work closely with our crew of Forest Service employees to operate and maintain our developed recreation facilities.

Ability to provide high quality customer service
Communicate and interact effectively and respectfully with a great diversity of people
Disseminate accurate Forest information in person
Effectively manage high volume/high stress situations
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Spring Mountains National Recreation Area is located approx. 25 miles outside of Las Vegas, NV. The developed recreation facilities of the SMNRA are extremely popular with both Las Vegas residents and visitors alike. Being higher in elevation the SMNRA has much cooler temperatures and attracts people looking to escape the heat in the summer and enjoy the cold and snowy weather in the winter.
