DESCRIPTION:
General park and campground maintenance along the desirable Okeechobee Waterway, near the town of Alva, FL.
Bring your skills to South Florida and join our outstanding team of volunteers. This is a great opportunity for an individual or couple to work general maintenance along the desirable Okeechobee Waterway, near the town of Alva, FL.
Will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks along the scenic and peaceful Caloosahatchee River. Specific duties include, providing visitors with local area information, painting, woodwork, landscaping/gardening and general minor upkeep of facilities. Will work a minimal of 24 hours per wk. Schedule can be custom tailored with Volunteer Supervisor. Must maintain professional appearance and manner. Must be willing to abide by the USACE Volunteer Agreement and submit a standard background check (required by all USACE volunteers). Abiding by the USACE Volunteer Agreement, includes being willing to adhere to current CDC Covid-19 protocols.
Proficient computer operation skills required in order to efficiently complete job duties; pleasant personality preferred. Must work well with others. Must be a self-starter and take initiative when identifying general maintenance needs of the recreation areas and campgrounds. Preferred experience running and/or operating an organized maintenance shop/area.
