Evening Camp Host / Security

Elk Meadow Cabins is a 5 star vacation rental located next to Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, in Orick California near California’s very special old-growth redwoods. We are a small family-run operation, seeking a long-term (1-year minimum) Evening Camp Host for our Vacation Rentals who will be responsible for guest hospitality and security of the cabins at night. The job entails working 15-20 hours a week in return for a dedicated RV site with FHU.

The Evening Camp Host duties include:

• welcome guests and direct them to phone numbers, answer questions.
• verify that cabins and facilities are locked up and secure for the evening,
• clean exteriors and common areas (restrooms, office, resort grounds),
• report any property damage and fixes needed.
• respond to disturbances in the evening as needed
• run a generator in the event of a power outage.
• clean exteriors, wipe down picnic tables, and spray wash windows.
• run laundry.
• track and make sure inventory is stocked.

The Host requires a friendly personality that makes guests feel welcome, helpfulness to assist them with simple requests, sharing tips and information about the area, and answering questions about the grill and fireplace. The property is often frequented by elk so the Camp Host should be familiar with how to conduct oneself around wildlife and also be able to instruct guests on how to remain safe in a friendly and firm way. A separate management company runs the vacation rentals during the day, so you will be free to explore the Redwoods and surrounding area at your leisure, but will be required to be on the property 4PM-7PM and as needed at night. Friendly, social pets are welcome.

Compensation: FHU including propane, electricity, firewood, water, WiFi, cable, and hot showers valued at $650 per month in exchange for 4 hours per day with 2 consecutive days off. The first 2 hours are in exchange for the above, and you will be paid for 2 hours of work each day at the rate agreed upon based on experience and references.
