DESCRIPTION:
Assist staff with custodial and facilities tasks.
Assist maintenance area staff in a variety of duties to maintain quality visitor use areas and buildings.
● Pick up and pack out litter.
● Inspect trail and trail signs.
● Perform light clearing and cleaning.
● Use maintenance tools such as the back pack blower to clear roads and sites.
● Remove illegal campsites and fire rings.
● Assist visitors and provide information as needed to promote Leave No Trace outdoor ethics.
● Wide variety of tasks including clearing vegetation, painting and repairing buildings, grounds and roads.
● Use a variety of hand tools including but not limited to hammers, screwdrivers and ladders.
● Check for supplies, maintenance problems and general appearance of bathrooms, but will not be asked to clean restrooms.
At no time may a volunteer operate a chainsaw without the proper training class, S212, and a volunteer should never use their own chainsaw for the completion of NPS

Work will be performed outdoors in potentially isolated areas with no cell service and emergency services may be hours away.
