Colorado Job – Granby – Arapaho Bay Campground
A-Bay CampgroundArapaho National Forest / Sulphur Ranger District
Approx. Open/Close Dates: Mid-May to Early October
Approx. Hours/Week/Couple: 20 – 30Available Utilities: W, S# of Host Sites: 3
# of Campsites: 84# of Restrooms: 7 vault, 14 toiletsElevation: 8330 feet3 couples will live in and care for these 3 campgrounds on Arapaho Bay: Roaring Fork, Moraine and Big Rock.
Roaring Fork has the best cell service (3 bars on Verizon). A large rock formation shields the host site from occasional strong winds that can come down the Arapaho bay. The old growth timber has been removed due to the beetle kill and the area has been re planted. Solar panels work really well here! The nearest groceries, gas, diesel, propane and laundry are in Granby. The campers at Roaring Fork are usually fishermen and are early to bed and early to rise. They tend to be experienced campers and are pretty much self sufficient, low maintenance campers. Bear nuisance doesn’t exist, probably because it is so open, Moose and Deer browse in the nearby willow bogs daily. The town of Granby is kind of stretched out and is about three miles from end to end. From the campground to the shopping center at the far end of Granby it is about 12 miles.Click here to read more about the area.
