Seeking to fill 1 Park Host Position from July – October 2021 with the possibility to extend
The primary duty of the Park Host position is to ensure the campgrounds are in the best possible condition and provide visitor assistance so users have an enjoyable experience. The position is required to work a minimum of 24 hours a week in exchange for a campsite. Volunteers may be required to work in gate houses to assist campers and park visitors. Weekend and holiday work may be required. The volunteer will be required to provide their own transportation as needed. This position will report to the volunteer coordinator but may be supervised by other staff members as duties occur. Park Hosts will have set schedules. Schedules will vary depending on the park. Contact the project office for park specific scheduling.
· Park hosts will make monitor park areas on scheduled work days to check campsite occupancy and day-use capacity. Park Hosts may work entrance booths to provide information and assist park visitors, but will not collect fees. Hosts conduct daily inspections of park facilities and report by email any maintenance issues to the lake staff. Provide lake information to park visitors and assist them with questions and complaints. Promote water safety and hand out water safety items to visitors. Maintain park areas in good condition and free of litter. May require mowing, painting, tree trimming, and minor maintenance repairs. Inspect facilities and signs for deterioration and replace signs as needed. Conduct other various duties as needed.
· Volunteer must possess the ability to work well with all kinds of people. They must be friendly and always represent professionalism in their duties. Must be able to effectively work with other volunteers, staff and contractors. Volunteer should be able to walk the park areas in hot and cold weather conditions. Volunteers are required to provide their own licensed transportation with insurance and fuel for any duties they perform. Must have general knowledge in computer applications.
· Mostly work outdoors in park area and in park entrance booths. Working under little supervision and/or in teams with other volunteers and lake staff. Work will occur primarily in park areas.
