Job Description
Portola Redwoods is looking for enthusiastic and reliable camp hosts. There are 53 sites in the main campground, six walk-in sites, four hike and bike sites and four group camps. The park’s campgrounds are nestled amongst the redwoods and beautiful Peter’s Creek and Pescadero Creeks flow through the park.
Camp host duties include assisting staff with fee collection, providing visitors with park information, light housekeeping, map and wood sales, and reporting incidents and emergencies. There is a minimum two-month commitment and a maximum six-month stay. The preference is for a host who can commit to a six-month assignment, but we can be flexible.
The newly renovated camp host site provides 50 amp electricity, water and sewer. There is also a phone line at the host site. Maximum length is 27 feet for trailers and 30 feet for motor homes. Be aware that the road into the park is steep and winding. The park is located 9 miles from the nearest store and 14 miles from the nearest gasoline.
Experienced hosts are preferred, please explore what a camp host is prior to applying. However, if you have a passion for parks and for customer service, please feel free to apply, even without experience. Two nights off per week; expected to be working on weekends.
