DESCRIPTION:
Seeking to fill one Volunteer Custodian position from April 26 – Oct 23, 2022. Campsite with electric, water and sewer is provided.
Minimum 21 hours service per week. Work Thursdays through Mondays with Tuesdays and Wednesdays off. Work performed April 26, 2022, through October 23, 2022. Some duties include cleaning shower building and bathroom facilities, picking up litter and changing trash cans.
Volunteer duties include, but not limited to:
- Clean one shower building and three vault toilets in Fisherman’s Corner North and South Recreation Areas.
- Remove litter and clean playground equipment in a play area.
- Remove litter from roadways and unoccupied campsites in the Fisherman’s Corner North Recreation Area.
- Clean water fountains daily in Fisherman’s Corner North Recreation Area.
- Assist with cleaning out ash from fire rings
- Other duties as assigned
DUTIES
CLEANINGS
Perform daily cleaning of one shower building, three vault toilets and withing the mowing areas in Fisherman’s Corner North and South Recreation Areas as needed to maintain cleanliness, typically two cleanings per day.

- Sweep sidewalks, entryways and floors to remove all debris. Dispose trash in a refuse container.
- Clean entryways and door surfaces.
- Keep all building surfaces (interior & exterior) and bulletin boards free of cobwebs, insect nests and bird nests.
- Keep windows clean on both the interior and exterior surface. Keep frames and sills free of dust, cobwebs, and insects.
- Clean exhaust fan covers to prevent dust buildup.
- Scrub shower walls with tile cleaner as needed to prevent soap and lime deposits (minimum of once per week).
- Scrub shower curtains with a disinfectant or stain remover to prevent lime buildup and mold growth (minimum of once per week).
- Clean floor drain covers daily.
- Scrub sinks, faucets and countertops with a disinfectant to remove all foreign material and stains. Dry all surfaces after cleaning.
- Scrub toilet fixtures with a disinfectant to remove all foreign material and stains. Dry all surfaces after cleaning.
- Clean and disinfect urinals. Replace urinal screens as needed to maintain fresh scent.
- Clean all mirrors and fixtures. Care must be exercised to prevent damage to finishes by strong cleaners.
- Ensure restrooms are stocked properly to include toilet paper and hand soap to fill dispenser.
- Empty trash cans daily and replace plastic liners. Dispose trash in a refuse container.
- Clean walls, ceilings, privacy partitions and floors by washing with water containing disinfectant detergent. Care must be taken to prevent mud, sand, mop strands, and other debris from obstructing floor drains. Use care to assure that electric receptacles, light fixtures, or hand dryers remain dry while cleaning. Remove excess water by mop or squeegee. Clean mops, brushes and other equipment after each use with a bleach solution and hang to dry properly. Dispose of mop water through a sanitary system.
- Picnic tables and benches shall be cleaned weekly; both tabletops and seats. After performance of services, picnic tables shall be cleaned and free of excess water.
- Routinely clean utility and supply rooms. Always keep them in an orderly manner. Supply room doors must always be locked when the volunteer is away from the building.
- Assist with cleaning out ash from fire rings weekly or as they become full.
- Report malfunction of utilities and property damage to a Park Ranger immediately.
LITTER PICKUP
- Remove litter within the mowed recreation areas of Fisherman’s Corner North and South including unoccupied campsites, roadways, parking lots and playgrounds. Litter includes but is not limited to all food and beverage containers (including broken glass and lids), paper, plastic, foil, and other waste products such as discarded food products.
PLAYGROUND
- Remove litter (including food products and animal waste) from the playgrounds daily.
- Clean and disinfect soiled play equipment as needed.
DRINKING FOUNTAINS
- Disinfect daily.
- Remove all foreign material.
- Dry all surfaces after cleaning.
