2023 Work Camping Opportunity
Belvidere East Journey KOA in Midland, South Dakota is looking for a work camping couple, sorry we have already filled our single work camper position
If you enjoy peace and quiet while surrounded by nature. Desire time away from all the hustle and bustle of city life, this is the place to stay and work. During the day the campground is a prairie oasis that turns into your private planetarium after the sun sets across our lake and grasslands.
LOCATION
Belvidere East/Exit 170 Journey KOA is located 12 miles south of Midland, South Dakota and 7 miles east of Belvidere. This is a rural area in South Dakota’s grasslands, but only ½ mile north of I-90. Our nearest Walmart or McDonald’s is over 80 miles away. There are closer smaller stores, 20 miles East or West or 40 miles northeast of our campground to get supplies.
WORK SEASON – May 1st to September 30th, 2023.
COMPENSATION
We pay $12.00 per hour for all hours worked. Payroll is paid on the 1stand 15th of each month.
Our work week is 32-35 hours per week per person. We provide 2 days off, back-to-back for you and your partner. This allows time to restock your supplies and explore all that South Dakota has to offer and enjoy.
Our compensation includes a full hook-up site with WIFI, the site is separate from the customers. We provide a 20% discount on all items in the store (except beer and wine) and on propane. KOA uniform shirts and a name tag are provided. We also provide a Badland/Black Hills attractions card that provides you with free or limited entrance fees to various sites. Each work camper couple will be provided with a golf cart for on-site usage during their employment with Belvidere East KOA.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Your job will entail working the following various positions as needed, including food service, registration, housekeeping, landscaping, and general campground duties.
We are striving for a friendly, team-work oriented atmosphere without drama. We cross-train all our employees in all campground positions. With a full staff these positions will not be an everyday assignment, we will be able to do a rotating schedule. This way, no one will be stuck doing the same position every day.
We are aware employees have special skills, we will do our best to accommodate those talents, but again, we are striving for teamwork. Since we have a smaller campground, all employees will be expected to work in all aspects of the campground, while there are lists of things that need to be done inside/outside daily, there are no specific job titles for anyone.
We strive not to micromanage our employees. We are on-site for the whole season to assist or answer questions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 12 pounds without assistance.
Able to work inside and outdoors frequently and in various climates.
Capable of moving safely over uneven terrain.
Able to use hands/fingers to handle or feel objects
Periods of standing, bending, kneeling, and walking required.
Ability to communicate in person or on the phone with customers.
