DESCRIPTION:

Palatki Heritage Site Host

The Palatki Heritage Site on the Coconino National Forest offers one of the largest preserved cliff dwelling sites on the Red Rock Ranger District in Sedona, AZ. The site is open to the public and tours are available through a reservation system. There is a visitor center on site. The forest is in need of a site host to live and work at Palatki. The host will need an RV or a Trailer. Preference will be made to couple’s who have great customer service skills, with experience in interpretation and education.

 

DUTIES

Day to day activities include staffing a visitor center, supporting pass and bookstore sales, making reservations for tours, guiding hikes, general landscaping, and cleaning of public restroom facilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Hosts must enjoy working with the public and disseminating recreational opportunities and information to the public. Comfort with public speaking and providing interpretive programs is a main component of the job.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

June is our hottest and driest months. Temperatures can be over 100 degrees on any day. Volunteer hosts will work a combination of indoors and outdoors. Much of the site while giving tours provides opportunities for shade. Work will also be conducted in an indoor visitor center setting.
