Campground Manager
Job Description
PART-TIME, APRIL – OCTOBER, WEEKENDS REQUIRED
$ 17,775 SALARY + IPERS BENEFITS!
*It is preferred that the Campground Manager stay onsite in their personal camper (full hookups & site provided)
Position may be split between 2 managers for the season if not filled by 1 individual.
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as host to campers & visitors to the Leach Park Campground, Leach Park & Stolley Shelter Houses
Receive and confirm Campground & Shelter House Reservations to comply with Park Board policy
Provide janitorial duties for the enclosed shelter house, public restroom facilities and minor repairs of Campground and Shelter Houses
Maintain good bookkeeping and deposit revenue in accordance with city policies
Receive and administer city beer permit applications for events at shelter houses
Monitor activity of the Band Shell and Open Shelter Houses
Provide respectful behavior toward park guests
Assist visitors, answers questions and explain regulations which apply to them
Assist campers in locating a campsite
Be familiar with local points of interest and the location of services that might be requested by campers such as towing, groceries, churches, tourist attractions and local events
Report situations that could affect the health and safety of visitors, and report any maintenance items which need immediate attention to the Parks and Recreation Staff immediately
Host shall not attempt to discipline or apprehend any park violators. Host will report all disturbances to the Spencer Police Department depending on the type of disturbance. Host is to inform campers of rules and regulations, but is not to participate in any high-risk activity
Host must set an example by being a model camper, practicing good housekeeping at all times in and around their assigned site and by observing all rules and regulations
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Good knowledge of applicable business practices to include bookkeeping, reservation and campground management
Knowledge of janitorial practices
Ability to respectfully communicate with camping guests and city personnel
Computer skills
Must be able to lift or move 25-40 pounds
Comprehensive reading skills
Education
Experience working with general public
Bookkeeping and general administrative skills and abilities
Must have a valid driver’s license, with acceptable driving record, and be in good physical condition
Physical Requirements
Work involves sitting/walking and administrative function 50% of the time, standing/walking 25% of the time, and requires he exertion of 10 pounds of force, and 10-40 pounds of force to move or lift objects infrequently. Work is performed inside and /or outside and may be exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat conditions.
Successful candidates will be required to pass drug screening prior to employment. EOE.
