We have an active campground host program and are looking for hosts to provide a presence and assist at Buckhall campground and day use area. The host is the eyes and ears of the recreation area and is able to protect the facilities and natural resources within the designated area. As the camphost you are the face of the forest service and amazing customer service goes a long way. Within the area of Buck Hall you have a boat landing, the southern terminus of the state wide Palmeto Trail, campground, overflow parking area, day use area with a pavillion that gets rented out on recreation.gov, and a fishing pier. Buck Hall Recreation Area sits on the intercoastal waterway with views of Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge in the background. Duties of the volunteer will include: • Have fun • Provide visitor contacts • Update/manage the recreation.gov info for campsites • Clean bathhouse & restroom in day use area • Rake and clean campsites • Empty out fire rings as needed • Pick up trash • Other duties as needed There are 14 electric RV pad campsites, 5 tent sites, 1 bath house and 1 day use restroom within this area. Camp host can stay in the position up to 6 months and have full hook ups. Hosts serve 20 – 25 hours a week, 5 days a week. If you have questions, please contact the volunteer coordinator.
