DESCRIPTION:
camping sites on the Smokey Bear Ranger District. It has ~53 Sites with a stay limit of 14 days. Fishing can be Located approximately 15 miles north of Ruidoso, New Mexico, South Fork Campground is a highly popular campground and located adjacent to Bonito Lake. Access to the White Mountain Wilderness Area can be found immediately at the south end of the Campground via the South Fork Trail (T19). The early portion of this trail is moderately easy with the higher portions being difficult.
South Fork Campground has approximately 53 sites and has recently received renovations. This campground can accommodate 2-3 campground host opportunities. The site has potable water located throughout the campground and a total of 6 toilets. There are paths and accessible camping sites within the campground. Use at this site is high to very high during the summer months, from June through August and the campground can fill to capacity.
LOCATION: Follow NM 48, 9 miles north from Ruidoso; turn west (left) and follow NM 37 for 1-1/2 miles, turn southwest (left) on Forest Road 107 (County Road C-009), continue for 5 miles. Pass Bonito Lake, turn left continuing straight for about 1 mile.
Duties for each set of campground hosts include but may not be limited to:
- Checking restrooms for cleanliness and restocking supplies as needed.
- Ensuring payment for sites and site compliance (quiet hours, fire restrictions, site cleanliness, dogs on leash)
- Light maintenance and cleaning of sites including picking up loose garbage, cleaning fire pits, cleaning off tables.
- Ensuring garbage is in receptacle.
- Posting signs, as needed

Qualified individuals will have a self-contained RV/camper van. Water/propane/septic are available to campground hosts, but a generator may be needed at times, as there is no electricity at this site. Reimbursement may be available
