DESCRIPTION:
The CCC Campground offers scenic views of the surrounding badlands and is within walking distance to the Little Missouri River. Within this sunny and spacious campground is the trailhead for the Maah Daah Hey Trail. Campground amenities include: 38 camping sites, picnic tables, fire rings, a hand pump offering potable water, large pavilion, hitch rails, and open spaces for potable corrals. The CCC campground is an excellent basecamp for visiting nearby Theodore Roosevelt National Park!
The CCC Campground is located approximately 15 miles south of Watford City, North Dakota. The access road and campground loops are gravel. The campground can accommodate large R.V.’s, trailers, and tents. Campsites are arranged in three separate loops, with two loops open to campers with horses, and one loop reserved for campers without horses.
There are 31 campsites, a picnic shelter that can accommodate 30 people, 3 vault toilets, and drinking water from a hand water pump.
CCC Campground is popular throughout the summer and fall months. The campground contains the north trailhead for the Maah Dah Hey and the Long-X Trails: both a popular trails for equestrian riders, hikers and mountain bike riders. Horse and pack stock amenities include: hitching rails and an accessible stock ramp.
Temperatures in the summer will typically be in the 80’s and 90’s, and will occasionally reach into the 100’s. Intense thunderstorms are frequent. Most essential services may be found in Watford City, including medical, gas, propane, groceries, library, laundry, ranger station, restaurants, and hardware store.
Greet visitors and assist campers with registration, track visitor use, inform visitors of regulations and current restrictions; clean restrooms and campsites, perform minor maintenance tasks in the campground, mow lawns, weed control, and maintain a neat and organized work area and campsite. Report any hazards in or out of the campground to Forest Service staff and report any law enforcement issues to Law Enforcement Officers or agency staff.
