*** 2 positions available ***nStockdale – campground host/custodian/mowing – Tuttle Creek Lake – near Manhattan, KS
Two positions available for single or couple volunteers at rural 12-site campground with a well established tradition of family-friendly recreation. Campground host duties include mowing, custodial services including cleaning of waterborne and non-waterborne facilities, campsite registration management (no fees), and general customer service. Free campsite available in exchange for 20 hrs/wk.
Volunteer will be responsible for a combination of the following duties:
- mowing and trimming
- cleaning of 1 waterborne shower house and 2 vault toilets
- checking park grounds for litter
- assist with cleaning of campsite fire rings
- checking guests in/out of computer-based campsite management system (R1S)
- assisting guests with making reservations (no fee handling)
- checking campsites to verify occupancy
Agreement is for 20 hours/week. Minimum workdays are Friday, Saturday, Sunday and major holidays. The schedule also includes one weekday (to be negotiated).
Riding mower and weed trimmer operation (or ability to learn), valid driver’s license, computer skills (or ability to learn), customer service skills.

There is no gatehouse at this park. Work occurs outdoors. Volunteers are supported by a full compliment of agency staff and provided all required training and work-related supplies/equipment.
Stockdale is located in the scenic Flint Hills region of north-central Kansas characterized by striking hillscapes. The campground spans a hilltop and hillside below, overlooking the second-largest lake in Kansas. Two boat ramps are also located in the park.
