Volunteer Camp Host
Job Description
A Camp Host is an RVer who lives on-site and provides services to the RV guests to ensure they have an enjoyable stay. Camp Hosts are responsible for conducting campground checks and answering questions from the public. We appreciate our hosts and provide a free campsite (Camp Host will need to provide own RV), restrooms, and showers.
DUTIES
The objectives of the Campground Host Program are:
1. To assist campers by providing a consistent campground presence.
2. Provide information to campers for a pleasant recreation experience.
3. To reduce maintenance costs by completing light maintenance.
4. To foster an increased sense of security for campers.
5. To provide after-hours point of contact.
Good Host, Cleaning, and Maintenance Jobs
a. Contact campers and record information for the campground register.
b. Monitor reserved sites, post new reservations when received, and remove signs after the group has left.
c. Light maintenance work (picking up litter, raking, etc.) in the campground. Remove old receipts from the site post after the site is vacated. If time allows before new group comes in, pick up the campsite after campers leave.
d. Clean and maintain fee boards once per week.
e. Inspect the well grates weekly to insure water is draining properly.
f. Repair minor maintenance items as they occur and report to Annie Hughes/Aren Manu any health and safety or other maintenance items that cannot be easily repaired.
g. Mow campsites, if needed. Areas to mow are to be approved by Recreation personnel. Do not mow or cut any brush or trees unless agreed upon with one of the permanent recreation staff.
h. Document ALL injuries/accidents that you observe or are reported to you.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements for Consideration as a Campground Host
The purpose for establishing requirements for our hosts is to provide consistency in the administration of the host program. It is to ensure that potential hosts understand what is expected from hosts and what will be provided by the County. It will ensure fairness and reasonable understanding on the part of both partners.
1. A host must be physically able and willing to do light maintenance.
2. The preferred tour of duty for a host is the entire recreation season (April 1 – October 31), however, shorter time periods may be considered. The campground host should be at the campground at least six days a week. It is important that hosts be on site Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and holidays during the camping season.
3. A host must be willing to serve as a government witness for violations observed.
4. Background checks may be done on potential hosts.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
County personnel will help all campground hosts with whatever they need. We are willing to accept volunteers willing to work for half the summer. We hope you enjoy camping at Bannock County’s fairgrounds!
