DESCRIPTION:
Volunteer will serve as Maintenance Assistant at Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center.
Volunteer will work 24 hours per week as a Maintenance Assistant at the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge. Duties may include mowing and weedeating the facility grounds, installing signs, picking up litter, and various light carpentry projects.
Volunteer will assistant Maintenance staff with various projects including mowing and weedeating of grounds and trails, sign installation, light carpentry projects, and picking up litter.
Volunteer should enjoy mowing, working outside, and be willing to work independently with a minimum of supervison. Experience with mowers/hand tools is useful but not required as training will be given.

The Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge consists of 7,724 acres near Seymour, Indiana and 78 acres near Bloomington. It is a small pocket of wetland habitat that also contains hardwood forest and grasslands. The refuge is a popular place for visitors with excellent opportunities for wildlife watching, fishing, hunting, and wildlife photography. Detailed training on the use of all refuge machines will be given prior to use. Summers are hot and humid in this area.
