DESCRIPTION:
The Six Rivers National Forest is seeking campground hosts who can represent the Forest Service in a professional and courteous manner. Hosts are often the first Forest Service representative that guests will encounter. They should interact regularly with the public during the day and make full rounds through the campground at least twice a day. Hosts must set a positive camping example by maintaining a neat, clean and organized campsite area.
Duties include but are not limited to: greeting visitors and campers, tracking campground vehicles and usage, provide information to visitors and campers, monitoring campground facilities and grounds, keep bathroom clean, monitor trash and recycling receptacles, address campers concerns or issues, promptly report any issues, concerns, or needs to Recreation Staff.
The campground provides multiple single-family sites for tent or camping trailers (21 sites). Approximately 50% of the sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis and the rest are available to reserve through Recreation.gov. Each site is equipped with picnic tables and campfire rings with grills. Accessible vault toilets are provided. Water is available at this facility.
Greet visitors with a friendly and helpful attitude. Assist with campsite registration, answer questions, and assure compliance with regulations.
· Keep restrooms and campsites neat and clean.
· Perform light maintenance of campsites and trails.
· Put out any unattended campfires.
· Maintain a neat, clean, and organized host site as an example to the visiting public.
· Represent the Six Rivers National Forest in a professional and courteous manner.
· Show a presence of authority and report any law enforcement issues to law enforcement and recreation staff.
· Keep recreation staff updated on any issues regarding campers, campsite facilities, or maintenance needs.
· Attend mandatory training sessions.
Friendly and outgoing personality with good verbal and written communications skills.
· Ability to perform light maintenance work in outdoor conditions.
· Interact with a diversity of visitors while maintaining a positive, helpful, and non-confrontational attitude.
· Ability to serve independently without direct supervision.

This host opportunities is located in a federal developed recreation site (campground) on National Forest Lands. Recreation sites in the Six Rivers National Forest are generally moderate to high use locations which draw a wide diversity of visitors/customers with varied expectations for their outdoor recreation experiences. Work is entirely outdoors in Northern California. Summer highs are in the high 80s to 100 with very little humidity. Job hazards include all the common hazards of outdoor life, cleaning/maintenance, and the human element. The environment, animals, and people encountered are unpredictable.
