Location Description:
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is a 71,000-acre park featuring sand dunes, beech/maple and pine/oak forests, rivers, inland lakes, miles of Lake Michigan beach, two offshore islands, historic farming district, a lighthouse, two campgrounds and 105 miles of hiking trails.
Position Description:
2 positions available Summer 2026 at D.H. Day Campground.
- Campground Hosts assist campground staff in many areas of campground operations.
- Clean campsites & fire rings.
- Assist with reservation management & make periodic rounds of the campground.
- Interact with visitors, answer questions and generally serve as a good resource for our visitors and campers.
Opportunity Time frame:
- June 15 – September 15
- July 15 – October 15
There is currently one full season position open, but we will consider shorter term positions as well.
We ask that hosts serve a minimum of two months in this opportunity.
Benefits:
- Free campsite available for a minimum of 32 hours of work/week.
- Host Campsites have water/electric hook-ups only (no sewer), a dump station is available.
- Campground Host Volunteers have access to a restroom with shower, and a washer/dryer at D.H. Day Campground.
- Volunteer Uniforms provided.
